Tools and materials to purchase for each kit:

Materials needed:

  1. Ellison Circle Die-cut available to cut out circles of mat board
  2. Mat Board: This is not oak tag or poster board, but mat board used in framing pictures. Mat board can usually be purchased or picked up at an art or framing shop. Scraps of 5x5 inches is large enough.
  3. Several Exacto knives available to cut out windows in mat board.
  4. Two or three hot glue guns and glue sticks to glue on paddles.
  5. Three throat lozenge sticks (6 in. x 3/5 in.)

Highlighter Windows: 3 for each kit

  1. Three 5x5 inch scraps of mat board.
  2. One sheet of heavy colored overhead transparencies in colors such as blue, pink, yellow, or orange.
  3. Transparent scotch tape to tape transparency to windows.
  4. Paper cutter to cut windows out of mat board.

Overhead Transparency Masking Sheets for highlighting poems and stories on the overhead projector: 3 for each kit

  1. Three sheets of heavy colored overhead transparency sheets for each tool box
  2. Exacto knives to cut out windows in transparencies.

Overhead T-shaped paddles for highlighting with the overhead projector

  1. Paper cutter for cutting mat board.
  2. Glue guns for gluing on lozenge sticks to mat board.
  3. Three throat lozenge sticks, one for each paddle (6 inches x 3/4 inch).
  4. Mat board scraps for T-shape ( 1 inch x 4 inches)
